Travel: Hong Kong 2013

I suppose this is a bit late, but it is still worth sharing.

Some time last year, Nika and I randomly decided to book a ticket to Hong Kong, wanting to add Hong Kong to our travels together. We were hoping we'd be able to catch winter, but it seems November is still too early for the cold weather.

It took us forever to find our hotel, but thankfully, Nika is a great companion when it comes to travelling - she was the one who figured it all out, no thanks to me. We opted for Panda Hotel, which was relatively cheap but very far from the city.

Upon checking in, we requested for adapters for our chargers and luckily, our hotel arranged our Disneyland trip for us as well. There's a scheduled bus going there and they also bought our tickets for us. So convenient!

We were really dressed for "winter" lol

I took a nap when we got to the hotel because I was having a headache

So excited!

Cute pandas everywhere in our hotel

After my nap, we went out for lunch. I enjoyed lunch a lot because we ordered my favorites!

Trying to smile even though my head still hurts

My forever love, Beef Brisket Noodles

Then we walked around with our winter outfits, suffering in heat.

The next day, we woke up early to grab breakfast at our hotel and prepared for our day at Hong Kong Disneyland.

My first ever trip to Disneyland was in 1996, and I was just turning 6. It was summer of that year, and I was with my family. I can still remember some things especially when we revisited, but going back as an adult is probably more meaningful to me. Though Disneyland CA is much bigger and a lot different than Hong Kong, I still felt the magic and definitely enjoyed.

I remember this day being warm but it didn't stop Nika and I from enjoying everything. At the end of the day, we had to wait for a cab for a very long time we were about to give up but the gods decided to give us one. Perhaps it was the location of our hotel - it was really far from everywhere and the taxi bay we waited at barely had cabs driving by. The other bays had many. Oh well.

The next night was spent wandering around at night and deciding to go to The Peak. At The Peak Tram, there was a Madame Tussauds but we didn't come in since she's been there and I've been to the Las Vegas one. We just enjoyed the few displays from outside.

After taking photos of the HK city skyline, we decided to have a cup of coffee at Starbucks just to enjoy the cold weather up there.

We were leaving the next day so we started packing. There was a bus service from the hotel to the airport so we just had to make sure to wake up on time. Lol!

...and that sums up our quick HK trip! Traveling with friends is really a great experience! I love traveling with my family too, don't get me wrong. It's just with my friends, I find it more liberating.

To more travels with you, Nika!
